The Empire On Which The Sun Never Sets

Once upon a time, the British Empire was spread so vastly around the globe, that when the sun was setting in one part of the empire, it would also be already rising in another part. The sun was always shining somewhere over the Union Jack. They seem to have liked that idea.

To celebrate my 1,000th deviation (and to poke fun at everyone with ambitions for world dominance), I’m calling my pictures now “The Photos On Which the Sun Never Sets”. Why? According to deviantART statistics, every 4.66 seconds someone clicks on one of my photos. I don’t know for how long they actually look at the photo, but if it were for five seconds or more, this would basically mean that there’s always someone, somewhere, looking at one of my photos. And that’s just on deviantART! Given how often my photos are downloaded, printed, painted, reposted and spread through the Internet, it might very well be that there’s someone, somewhere clicking on a photo of mine every second. And click. And click. And click.

At this point some might say: “That’s hardly your credit. People just like to watch beautiful women”. And to them I respond: You’re absolutely right. I’m not the creator of beauty, I’m merely a witness. And some might even say: “Anyone can be a popular photographer by shooting naked women! There’s no work involved.” Now, this might be true as well, but to get to 1,000 published photos, you have to do some work at some point. Especially if your shootings take weeks to prepare.

I don’t know how long I can keep this up, as it has always been a dance on a volcano for me. So, let’s celebrate as long as it’s going well.
